Biographical

 

 

  • Rocky L. Crabb was born at Loma Linda California, and is a lifelong resident of Southern California.

  • Graduated from:                                          Riverside City College, 1975, AA  Adm of Justice;   U.C. Santa Barbara, 1977, BA Political Science;     Loyola Law School, 1980, Juris Doctorate Degree

  • He helped to put himself through college, employed as a steel worker at the Kaiser Steel Plant, Fontana, CA each summer, and while attending City College.  He has always maintained  a strong work ethic.

  • Began the private practice of law in Los Angeles County in 1980 with offices in the Cities of Covina and West Covina  for 25 years.  The practice initially included civil litigation, consumer law,  juvenile and criminal law.  He represented the varied and diverse citizens of the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles County, from all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.   At the time of his election to the position of Superior Court Commissioner,  his practice was focused on  complex business litigation, representation of business clients, consumer law, and family law.   

  • In November 2005, he was elected by the Judges of the Los Angeles Superior Court to the position of Commissioner, and he has served the County of Los Angeles from the bench since that time.    
      
  • Initially assigned to a busy traffic arraignment and trial calendar, conducting several thousand arraignments, and hundreds of traffic trials.  Also responsible for conducting trials on appeal in small claims cases.

  • Two years ago he was assigned to a general family law court also handling Domestic Violence Prevention Act cases.  Since that time Commissioner Crabb has presided over more than 7,300 trials / hearings, including more than 800 DVPA cases.  He considers it an honor to be given the opportunity to protect victims and children, and to work to bring a degree of normalcy to people whose lives are often turned upside down by divorce and domestic violence.

  • As a LASC Commissioner he also has periodic responsibility for Emergency Protective Orders, Criminal Bail Deviation Duty,  and Criminal Probable Cause Determination Duty.  He is a tough but fair bench officer, who clearly understands that the law abiding citizens of Los Angeles County rely on our court system to protect them.  The confidence that our citizens put in the courts must be honored.     


   

  •   Family Values

        Commissioner Crabb is a family man, with strong family values.  He has been married to his wife Janice for over 24 years.  She is a 6th grade public school teacher who continues to enjoy the teaching profession, and being of service to the community.  They have two children both of whom are now in college, and making their parents proud.

        When his children were younger, he actively participated with them as a leader in the YMCA Indian Guide and Indian Princess programs, and as a coach and team parent in little league baseball, girls softball, and national junior basketball. 

        He and his wife are also very fortunate to have wonderful extended families, parents, and a total of 8 brothers and sisters between them.  Regular gatherings of friends and family are a part of the core family values that Commissioner Crabb brings to the bench with him.
